Maine Equal Justice works to improve public policies by working in partnership with people impacted by those policies and advocating for change. Together, we are making Maine a better place to live and work for all Mainers.
Most people who can work do--it's that simple. But instead of acknowledging that SNAP and Medicaid support work and our economy, the budget passed by Congressional Republicans at the behest of the Trump Administration in July massively cuts food and health care.
Under this policy, we’re going to see 40,000 people in Maine impacted and possibly cut from the SNAP program–families are going to go hungry, mom and pop groceries will lose customers, and our food banks are going to be further stretched.
Harsher work requirements for people who use SNAP to afford their groceries won’t do anything to help Mainers find work OR lower food prices, which is what this administration promised to do. If you'd like to speak up (THANK YOU!) please use our website to send a message to members of Maine's congressional delegation. Without your voices, nothing can change.

When we build power together, we’re able to have an impact on the policy decisions that change lives.
We cannot do this work alone. Your involvement helps ensure all Mainers have food in the fridge, a place to call home, and the health care they need and deserve.
